Month One

I can't believe it's already time to take your one month pictures. I can honestly say this has been the best month of my life. I feel so proud to be your mommy. I learn something new about you everyday.



This month you are wearing preemie diapers and you hate being changed. You scream and cry until it's over and daddy or I pick you up. You're a very modest girl. Being naked is not your thing. You certainly do not like being dirty but you absolutely HATE to be wet and you let us know right away when you are.



You had your first bath this month when your belly button was ready. You don't like bath time very much but you don't scream as much as you do during diaper changes. Right now your baths are on the counter next to the sink. After your all dry and I try to put on your lotion you scream too. Again being naked is not your thing! You wear newborn and preemie clothes. (Mostly because you're so narrow.) You go through a few outfits a day and sleep in long sleeves because Daddy keeps the house so cold at night.



As far as toys go you LOVE your swing and have recently discovered your bouncy seat. You like it too but not as much as your swing. I'm pretty sure you could spend all day in there. You do tummy time each day and like to look at the dogs. Other than that your not big on toys. You do love to chew on your hands. (Which causes you to scratch yourself sometimes.) Ithink that's the reason you hate when we swaddle you with your hands covered or try to put mittens on you.



It feels like there are a million different pacifiers (pacis/nubbins) scattered around the house. You have 2 different kinds that you like. You don't have to have it to go to sleep but you do love it and get angry when it falls out. I thought you'd love your wubba-nub but it's spent most of its time in the diaper bag.



You spent a week this month with Mimi while mommy went to work. Then the following week you spent half the week with Daddy and the other half with Papa. During these two weeks you ate from a bottle and didn't have any trouble with it. You eat about 4 ounces at a time. When Mommy feeds you you eat for 30-40 min. and you've always been a good eater. Sometimes you get frustrated and bob your head and start screaming. Eventually you get it and things are fine again.



At night you usually sleep for 3-5 hours at a time. You tricked Mommy by sleeping all the way through the night once* but, you haven't done it since. Most nights you get up once around 2 or 3. You sleep in your crib in your own room although there have been a few nights when you've slept with Mommy or Daddy in the big brown chair. Usually you sleep with both hands above your head although there've been a few times where it's just the one arm bent behind your head (just like daddy). You have to have your night light on and like to listen to the ocean waves on your sound machine.



It's probably easier to name the friends and family that you haven't met since you've met so many people. As far as great-grandparents go you've have met your Nanny and Papa & Nani and Papi Chapa. You've met almost all of your Aunts and Uncles and you've even met your cousins Megan & Jeremy. Most of mommy and daddys friends (and even some of Mimi & Papa's) have been to see you too.



Peanut, I love you more than you'll know. You've completely changed my life and I can't wait to see what month 2 holds. "No one else will ever know the strength of my LOVE for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my hearts sounds like from the inside."
